SIKESTON, Mo. -- Virginia Lee Dunn Beggs, 94, of Sikeston died Monday, July 13, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov. 9, 1920, in Advance, Missouri, daughter of William Oliver and Alleyne Caldwell Dunn. She and W.A. "Dubb" Beggs were married Sept. 23, 1937, in Bell City, Missouri. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1995...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Virginia Lee Dunn Beggs, 94, of Sikeston died Monday, July 13, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 9, 1920, in Advance, Missouri, daughter of William Oliver and Alleyne Caldwell Dunn. She and W.A. "Dubb" Beggs were married Sept. 23, 1937, in Bell City, Missouri. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1995.

Virginia was a caseworker with the Division of Family Services.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Catherine Ann Ferrell Beggs of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Glenda Dunn Johnson of St. Louis, Mary Dunn Benish and Verna Dunn Gilmore of Cocoa, Florida, and Shirley Dunn Pruitt of Bonne Terre, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Michelle Lee (Bruce) Scherer of Benton, Missouri, Gary Douglas (Cheryl) Beggs Jr. of Sikeston, Missouri, Cameron Ferrell (Cathy) Beggs of Benton, William Craig (Shawn) Cooper of Blodgett, Missouri, Jennifer Beggs (Barry) Vescovo of Memphis, Tennessee, Donald Ray (Sheila) Beggs II of Sikeston, Larry Todd (Missy) Cooper of Nixa, Missouri, and Amanda Dawn Cooper-Cochran of Ozark, Missouri; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Beggs was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Ray Beggs and Gary Douglas Beggs; a daughter, Barbara Gail Beggs Cooper; a son-in-law, Larry Gene Cooper; a daughter-in-law, Margaret (Goehri) Beggs; a sister, Pauline Dunn Beggs Foltz; a brother, Bill Dunn; a grandson, Kevin Gene Cooper; and a great-grandson, Hollis Malone.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at Ponder Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Griffin of Wesley United Methodist Church and Mitch Jackson of Miner Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Gary Douglas Beggs Jr., Cameron Ferrell Beggs, William Craig Cooper, Donald Ray Beggs II, Larry Todd Cooper, Bruce Scherer and Barry Vescovo.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sikeston Public Library, 121 E. North St., Sikeston, MO 63801, or Wesley United Methodist Church, 600 Pine St., Sikeston, MO 63801.
