Virginia L. Amelunke, 84, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of the late Ollie P. and Alice Lucille Johnson Eaton. She and Herman Amelunke were married March 4, 1942, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. They were married 37 years when Herman died June 3, 1979.
Virginia was raised in the Burfordville community and attended the former Helderman School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed babysitting in her home.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, where she was confirmed Feb. 7, 1943.
Loving survivors include a son, David W. Amelunke of Fruitland; two daughters, Clara Mae (Larry) Dixon and Judy Blackwell of Jackson; a sister, Laura Lewis of Naylor, Mo.; three granddaughters, Teresa (Dale) Birk and son Austin of Jackson, Jennifer Blackwell (David Ivester II) and sons David III and Ethan of Jackson, Heather (Josh) Lansing and son Brantley of Pinellas Park, Fla.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bettie Friese; a brother, George "Bud" L. Eaton; and an infant brother, Ollie P. Eaton Jr.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
