THEBES, Ill. -- Funeral for Virgil Sutton of Thebes will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill. The Rev. Carl D. Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Sutton, 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at his home.
He was born July 23, 1917, in Olive Branch, Ill., son of Floyd and Mary Bledsoe Sutton. He married Nota Wooley. She preceded him in death.
Sutton was retired from Army Corps of Engineers.
He served in the medical corps during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Darby of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Jim and John Sutton of Thebes, Randy Sutton of Cape Girardeau, Virgil Sutton of Dothan, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
