Virgil James Cotner, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 20, 1911, at Crosstown, son of Harlowe and Jettie Chappins Cotner.
He married Edna Heuschober. She survives.
He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church 17 years. He was member of the Maple United Methodist Church.
He worked at International Shoe Co. 30 years, and was custodian at Boatmen's Bank 18 years.
He is survived by daughters, Donna Jo Hindman of Cape Girardeau and Sandra Kay Michael of Commerce; a sister, Irene Robertson of Grand Tower, Ill.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a grandchild.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. John Gregory and Jim King officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
