CHARLESTON -- Virgil Thomas Humphrey, 73, Charleston Route 3, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1996, at his home.
He was born Feb. 24, 1923, at Morehouse, son of Herman E. and Ada M. Burns Humphrey. He and Catherine Louise Bradley were married July 25, 1942. She died Aug. 15, 1988.
Humphrey was a retired farmer, and member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas and William Humphrey of Charleston, David Bradley of Crossville, Tenn.; four daughters, Faye Lee of Galveston, Ind., Anna Wetzel of Young America, Ind., Mary Caid of Charleston, Mary Kersey of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Harry Humphrey of Aurlin, Ill.; three sisters, Laura Sanford of Scott City, Hazel Williams of Columbia, Ruth Scheriber of Granite City, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a grandson.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Henry's Church, with the Rev. Rich Lause officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery near Charleston.
