Virgil Glastetter

NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Virgil Herman "Sporty" Glastetter, 70, of New Hamburg died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 5, 1944, in New Hamburg to Bernard Frank and Anna Louise Westrich Glastetter. He married Sandra Denise Fee in 1990.

He was a carpenter and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; two sons, Curtis Glastetter of Zalma, Missouri, and Eric Glastetter of Chaffee, Missouri; two daughters, Pam (Rat) Walker of Wappapello, Missouri, and Lauren Glastetter of New Hamburg; two brothers, Melvin (Cecilia) Glastetter and Mike (Debbie) Glastetter, both of New Hamburg; a sister, Vickie (Jim) Eftink of Oran, Missouri; six grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Hamburg.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.
