MARBLE HILL - Virgil E. Welker, 64, of Converse, La., formerly of Marble Hill, died Saturday, March 13, at his home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Marble Hill, the son of Jesse and Inez Welker Green.
He married Dorothy Haddox, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Douglas Welker of Colorado, five daughters, Brenda Keller of Perryville, Debbie Welker and Ruth Kessee, both of Marble Hill; Sharon Welker, who lives in Germany, and Pam Thorn of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Floyd Green and Jerry Green, both of Marble Hill; one sister, Ruth Lock of Marble Hill, and five grandchildren also survive.
Welker was a retired chiropractor. He had resided in Converse for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church and the American Legion. Welker was a veteran of the Army and served in Korea.
Friends may call after 5 p.m., Monday, at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m., at the Liley Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will be in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery at Marble Hill.
