Violet Wareing, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at the home of her granddaughter, where she was residing.
She was born Nov. 17, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Walter and Alberta Poole Lacy. She and Clyde Wareing were married Feb. 15, 1936. He died Feb. 6, 1999.
Mrs. Wareing was cafeteria manager at Clippard School (formerly Hawthorn) many years. She and her husband managed the former Co-op Service Station a number of years. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and had a perfect attendance record many years.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Peggy Wareing of Bridgeton, Mo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Wanda Lacy of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Sharon Karraker, Anthony Noel, Scott, Jason and Jeffrey Wareing, and Lori Mahala; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, a daughter, three brothers, and four sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Saturday after 10 a.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Chris Girard officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to First Free Will Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau.
