SIKESTON -- Violet Lomax, 97, of Sikeston, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born May 17, 1902, at New Madrid, daughter of William and Frances Hall Rhodes. She and James Lomax were married March 16, 1919, in New Madrid. He died Jan. 29, 1968.
Lomax had worked for 15 years as a seamstress for Caprico Inc. She was a charter member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Miner.
Survivors include a son, James Lomax of Memphis Tenn.; five daughters, Mildred Marble of Frankston, Texas, Clodine Trail, Imogene Whitson and Pat White, all of Sikeston, and Janet Jackson of Van Buren; 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, nine brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Funeral will be at the chapel at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Revs. Ottie Brown and Donny Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
