FARRAR, Mo. -- Violet L. Detjen, 88, of Farrar died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 18, 1912, in Alva, Okla., daughter of Fred and Caroline Schwanke Dimmick. She and Ernst Martin Detjen were married Oct. 16, 1934. He died July 19, 1971.
Detjen was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
Survivors include five daughters, Lois Fritsche and Irene Mueller of Farrar, Norma Kaempfe of Perryville, Mo., Evelyn Hadler of Campbell Hill, Ill., Darlene Mueller of Columbia, Mo.; a son, Dean Detjen of Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Gladys Spreen of Hooper, Neb.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 5-9 p.m. today, and Sunday from 8-11:15 a.m.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Salem Church, with the Rev. Robert Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
