SIKESTON, Mo. -- Viola Pixley, 93, of Sikeston died Monday, March 19, 2001, at her home. She was born Sept. 25, 1907, in McClure, Ill., daughter of George Fount and Nancy Ellen Denton Walker. She and Albert Welton Pixley were married July 6, 1929, in Cape Girardeau. He died Jan. 26, 1989...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Viola Pixley, 93, of Sikeston died Monday, March 19, 2001, at her home.

She was born Sept. 25, 1907, in McClure, Ill., daughter of George Fount and Nancy Ellen Denton Walker. She and Albert Welton Pixley were married July 6, 1929, in Cape Girardeau. He died Jan. 26, 1989.

Pixley lived in Southeast Missouri all her life. She lived at Bloomfield, Mo., 17 years, moving to Sikeston in 1975. She was a member of Church on the Rock near Sikeston.

Survivors include two sons, Louis Pixley of Glendora, Calif., Jerry Pixley of Sikeston; seven daughters, Marie Sides of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Mildred Parks, Lillian Kelton, Patsy Sanders and Glida Isenhower, all of Sikeston, JoAnn Melton and Mary Clark of Dexter, Mo.; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Curtis True officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
