Viola Helen Overbeck, 88, of Jackson died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of Emil and Hermina Schwepker Simpher.
She and Albert E. Overbeck were married Jan. 24, 1933, in Jonesboro, Ill. He died June 20, 1999.
She worked at Ely-Walker Garment Factory in Scott City for 10 years and also helped her husband on the farm west of Dutchtown. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Weldon Overbeck of Chaffee, Mo., and Clifford Overbeck of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Wanda Lacy and Ruby Propst, both of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Raymond Simpher of St. Louis; three sisters, Lorene McDaniel of Scott City, Evelyn Simpher of Cape Girardeau and Coleen Smith of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a sister and a grandchild.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
