VIDA R. BISHOP

EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Vida Ruth Bishop of East Prairie will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Harold Norton will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.

Bishop, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 1994, at East Prairie Nursing Center.

She was born Oct. 21, 1910, at Bertrand, daughter of Nick and Lehence Holland Presson. She and Lester H. "Kid" Bishop were married Feb. 28, 1931. He died Nov. 7, 1978.

Bishop was a member and served in various capacities of Dogwood Methodist Church, was active in the county and state extension service, and was a Farm Bureau board member on the county and state levels.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Pruitt of Horn Lake, Miss.; a son, Jim Bishop of the Dogwood community; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.
