POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Vickie McCann, 60, of Poplar Bluff passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mrs. McCann was born Nov. 22, 1953, in Cape Girardeau. POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Vickie McCann, 60, of Poplar Bluff passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. McCann was born Nov. 22, 1953, in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and was an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer for several years. In 1976, she received a bachelor's degree in music education. She was a music teacher in the Zalma, Doniphan and Neelyville, Missouri, school systems before retiring in 2006. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, listening to gospel music -- especially David Phelps -- playing the piano and singing in the church choir. She also enjoyed being the Operation Christmas Child Poplar Bluff relay station coordinator for six years, Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school director and doing music for Cane Creek Stoddard Children's Camp for 10 years.

On April 14, 1979, she married Larry McCann in Millersville. He survives.

Other survivors include her children, Luke Adam McCann and Mollie Elizabeth (Justin) Hudson of Nashville, Tennessee; her mother, Eula (Camren) Brown; one grandchild, Camren Reed Hudson; and a sister, Kathy (Jim) Criddle, and brother, Andy (Debra) Brown, all of Millersville.

Her father, Russell D. Brown, preceded her in death.

A memorial visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at Temple Baptist Church, 1813 Barron Road, Poplar Bluff.

The memorial funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Steve Patterson officiating.
