SIKESTON -- Vestel G. `Buck' Rasperry, 71, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Mount Mira, Tenn., the son of John Ruben and Elizabeth Jane Robinson Rasperry.
On March 7, 1955, in Hernando, Miss., he married Jewell Ramsey Price, who survives.
He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II.
While living in Belleville, Ill, he was a labor foreman for 38 years for J.S. Alberici and William R. Montgomery & Associates construction companies in St. Louis. He was a member of Construction Workers Union Local 110 in St. Louis.
He also worked for the General Oil Co. in Sikeston, where he also owned and operated Buck's Parking Lot Cleaning Service.
He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 3319 in Sikeston and the Sikeston Elks Lodge.
Other survivors are a son, Wayne Rasperry of Decatur, Ala.; three stepsons, John, Ron and Larry Price, all of Sikeston; three stepdaughters, Linda Hardison of Carterville, Ga., Ruth Little of Belleville, Ill., and Sue Price of Sikeston; a brother, Odell Rasperry of Matthews; a sister, Jessie Crocker of Dyersburg, Tenn.; a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter, 25 stepgrandchildren and 30 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, two brothers, two sisters and a stepgrandson.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Tim Russell will officiate, burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
