SIKESTON -- Vertie May Davis, 94, of St. Louis, formerly of Sikeston, died Saturday, July 3, 1993, at the Delmar Gardens West Nursing Home in St. Louis. She was born March 25, 1899, at Thayer, Mo., daughter of W.G. and Susie M. Stubbs Webber. She was married to John T. Davis, Oct. 15, 1916. He died Oct. 31, 1952...

SIKESTON -- Vertie May Davis, 94, of St. Louis, formerly of Sikeston, died Saturday, July 3, 1993, at the Delmar Gardens West Nursing Home in St. Louis.

She was born March 25, 1899, at Thayer, Mo., daughter of W.G. and Susie M. Stubbs Webber.

She was married to John T. Davis, Oct. 15, 1916. He died Oct. 31, 1952.

Davis worked for several years in the Missouri License Bureau office in St. Louis, and was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in St. Louis.

Survivors include four daughters, Daveen Alexander of Jackson, Gerry Birkel of St. Louis, Carmen Cervantes of Chesterfield, Mo., Norma Crawford of Overland, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

SHe was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and eight sisters.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, with Minister Johnny Hester officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sikeston City Cemetery.
