VERSIE SHELBY

PUXICO -- Versie Shelby, 85, of Puxico died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at Puxico Nursing Center.

She was born July 19, 1912, in Brookland, Ark., daughter of George and Elva Stallings Roedel. She and Munroe Shelby were married Oct. 31, 1933, at Bloomfield. He died April 25, 1992.

Shelby had lived in the area all her life, and attended Egypt Church near Puxico.

Survivors include a son, Norman Shelby of Advance; two daughters, Violet Stanfill of High Ridge, Katie Moose of China Grove, N.C.; a sister, Minnie Zimmerman of Dudley; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six great-stepgrandchildren; and three great-great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Wayne Burchett and Gene Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Puxico Cemetery.
