NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Veronica "Buby" Westrich, 82, of New Hamburg died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 27, 1927, in New Hamburg, to Philip and Leocadia Dirnberger Bucher. She married Gilbert M. Westrich on April 14, 1948, in New Hamburg. He died Sept. 20, 2009.
She had worked at Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau and also was a cook for the parish priest in New Hamburg. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, Ladies Sodality and New Hamburg Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three sons, Robert (Diana) Westrich of Kelso, Mo., Calvin Westrich of Festus, Mo., Roger (Pam) Westrich of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Sister Theresa Westrich of St. Paul, Minn., Ruth (Michael) Vetter, Mary (James) Simmons, Jane (Lenny) Burford, all of Benton, Mo.; a brother, Monsignor Philip Bucher of Albuquerque, N.M.; a stepbrother, Mike Bucher of Chicago; three sisters, Coonie Essner of Cape Girardeau, Susie Seyer of Oran, Mo. and Zita Nenninger of Hazelwood, Mo.; a stepsister, Mary Frances Rosencranz of Chicago; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A brother, three sisters, a stepbrother and a stepsister preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be at 6.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Hamburg.
