Vernon Lawrence Schaefer, 72, of Scott City died Thursday, April 18, 2019, at his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1946, in Kelso, Missouri, to Theon Frank "Mousie" and Marie Bertha Schoen Schaefer. He married Susan E. Lents on April 17, 2019. He was site leader for Procter & Gamble for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Vernon Lawrence Schaefer, 72, of Scott City died Thursday, April 18, 2019, at his home.

He was born Nov. 14, 1946, in Kelso, Missouri, to Theon Frank "Mousie" and Marie Bertha Schoen Schaefer. He married Susan E. Lentz on April 17, 2019.

He was site leader for Procter & Gamble for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Saveway softball and P&G basketball teams.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters, Rhonda (Teddy) Piatt of Hermann, Missouri, and Robyn Schaefer of Scott City; four grandchildren, Amanda, Joshua, Erika and Allison; two great-grandchildren, Raelyn and Jessie; two brothers, Gilbert (Bonnie) Schaefer of Holts Summit, Missouri, and Mike (Lisa) Schaefer of Scott City; and three sisters, Doreen Hamm of Fruitland, Mary Fowler of Scott City and Jenn (Dennis) Carpenter of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Randy Morse officiating.
