Vernon L. Robert, 81, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010.

He was born Oct. 1, 1928, at New Hamburg, Mo., to Theon and Emma Ledure Robert.

He and Flora F. Balsmann were married Oct. 3, 1953, at Apple Creek, Mo.

Vernon was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army.

Mr. Robert was part owner and manager of Schneider Equipment Co. dealer for Case IH for more than 50 years. He received various awards for lifetime achievements in agribusiness.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1111 and a former member of the Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

His hobbies included RV camping, boating and spending winters with his daughters in Texas and California.

He is survived by his wife, Flora F. Robert of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Candice (Jim) Kraushaar of Newport Beach, Calif., and Jacalyn (Robert) McComb of Lubbock, Texas; two grandchildren, Courtney Kraushaar and Rachel Kraushaar of Newport Beach; a brother, Don Robert of Benton, Mo.; and a sister, Georgianna Bohannon of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gilbert and Jordan Robert.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with parish prayers at 7:15 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus rosary.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
