Vernon Bachmann

FARRAR, Mo. -- Vernon E. Bachmann, 81, of the Farrar community died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born June 13, 1925, in Perry County, Mo., son of Rudolph and Frieda Miesner Bachmann. He and Mildred E. Mueller were married Sept. 25, 1949.

Bachmann was a dairy and agriculture farmer. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar and a past member of the church choir and American Legion.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Mark Bachmann of Harwood, Mo., John and Daniel Bachmann of Perryville, Mo.; six daughters, Kathryn Fritsche and Mary Koenig of Farrar, Diane Christian of Los Angeles, Karen Nolen of Arnold, Mo., Deborah Wallin of Teutopolis, Ill., and Carolyn Manno of Florissant, Mo.

Also five sisters, Doris Gabbert of Henderson, Mo., Florence Neu of Lake City, Fla., Neomi Schuessler and Ruby Mueller of Perryville, Ellen Schultes of St. Louis; two brothers, Robert Bachmann of Frohna, Mo., Edward Bachmann of St. Louis; 29 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons and an infant daughter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Young and Sons Funeral Home, and Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
