Vernon A. Ainsworth, 50, of Whitewater died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 4, 1961, in Cape Girardeau, to James and Shirley Tomlinson Ainsworth. He and Cindy Fort were married May 27, 1983, at Liberty Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Vernon was a carpenter. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; two daughters, Kim Kiehl of Commerce, Mo., Amy Stoffregen of Scott City; his mother, Shirley Tomlinson of Chaffee, Mo.; six brothers, James and Dennis Ainsworth of Jackson, Gerald Ainsworth of Cape Girardeau, Joseph Ainsworth of Millersville, Kevin Compton of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Eric Keys of Chaffee.
Also six sisters, Cora Miller of Olive Branch, Ill., Sarah St. Clair of Benton, Mo., Leslie Luttrell, Candy Witcher, Ronann Luttrell and Loretta Arnzen, all of Chaffee; four grandchildren, Nathan and Emma Kiehl, Gavin and Trevor Stoffregen.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Ainsworth.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darius Wentz officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
