ORAN -- Verneda Marie Urhahn, 78, of Oran, died Monday, Nov. 27, 1995, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston.
She was born May 14, 1917, at Oran, daughter of August and Emma Schlosser Welter. She and Leon "Gumbo" Urhahn were married Aug. 17, 1938. He died Jan. 22, 1990.
Urhahn was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and its St. Ann's Sodality.
Survivors include five sons, James Urhahn of Sikeston, Tom Urhahn of Oran, Augie Urhahn of Scott City, Paul Urhahn of Richmond, Rick Urhahn of Zalma; four daughters, Mary Schott of Crestwood, Lynda Hess of Malden, Anna Stringfellow of Millington, Tenn., Laurie Smith of Overland; a brother, Elmer Welter of Oran; a sister, Germaine Schlitt of Oran; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 6:30, and KC prayer service at 6:45.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Guardian Angel Church, with the Revs. Normand Varone and Frederick Lutz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
