VERNARD THOMPSON

PERRYVILLE -- Vernard A. "John" Thompson, 85, of Perryville died Monday, April 14, 1997, at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born Nov. 28, 1911, at Lithium, son of Noah and Vicca Reed Thompson. He and Louise Bert were married March 27, 1931. She died July 2, 1990.

Thompson was a service technician at Pete and Leo Sales. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 133, and Knights of Columbus Council 1263. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Sutter and Juanita Hunt of St. Louis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today, and Thursday from 6:30-11 a.m. The parish wake is at 7 tonight, and American Legion wake at 7:15.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Gerry Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
