DEXTER -- Vernace P. Absher, 91, of Dexter died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter. She was born June 14, 1908, at Acorn Ridge, daughter of Willard Robert and Hallie Essie Harbin Tweedy. She and Roy Marteen Absher were married July 27, 1930, at Dudley. He died Nov. 7, 1975...

DEXTER -- Vernace P. Absher, 91, of Dexter died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter.

She was born June 14, 1908, at Acorn Ridge, daughter of Willard Robert and Hallie Essie Harbin Tweedy. She and Roy Marteen Absher were married July 27, 1930, at Dudley. He died Nov. 7, 1975.

A lifelong resident of Southeast Missouri, Absher had been a material supplier and supervisor at Elder Manufacturing Co. She had been a member of Rebekah Lodge and New Bethel General Baptist Church near Dexter.

Survivors include a son, William Absher of Dexter; two daughters, Beverly Brown of Dexter, Brenda Roberts of St. Louis; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and seven brothers.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Clifford Wray will officiate. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
