Verna L. Hobeck, 89, of Daisy passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her home. She was born March 24, 1924, in Friedheim, to O.H. and Mellie Crites Brune. She and Milford Gale Hobeck were married Sept. 16, 1943. He passed away Oct. 5, 1995. Verna and Milford farmed many years in the Daisy community. Verna loved caring for her family. She especially liked gardening and canning. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Friedheim...

Verna L. Hobeck, 89, of Daisy passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at her home.

She was born March 24, 1924, in Friedheim, to O.H. and Mellie Crites Brune. She and Milford Gale Hobeck were married Sept. 16, 1943. He passed away Oct. 5, 1995.

Verna and Milford farmed many years in the Daisy community. Verna loved caring for her family. She especially liked gardening and canning. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Friedheim.

Loving survivors include four children, Robert Hobeck and Ken (Pam) Hobeck of Jackson, Ron (Janette) Hobeck of Daisy and Joyce Ourth of Cape Girardeau; three siblings, Kelly (Betty) Brune of Friedheim, Jean Seems of Phoenix and Dorothy (the Rev. George) Buck of Parma, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a great-granddaughter; and 10 siblings.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas V. Handrick of Trinity Lutheran in Perryville, Mo., officiating. Interment will be in New Salem Cemetery at Daisy.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or New Salem Cemetery Fund.
