CHARLESTON -- Verlar Mae Caldwell, 57, of Charleston, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Henning, Tenn., daughter of Lester and Elvie Smith Reed. She married Condra Caldwell Jr. Oct 14, 1954.
Caldwell was a member of St. Matthew's Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; seven sons, Donald Caldwell of Sikeston, Terry Caldwell of Murray, Ky., Jerry Caldwell of Wyatt, Tim Caldwell of Baltimore, Md., James Caldwell of Little Rock, Ark., Ronald Caldwell of Jefferson City, Billy Caldwell of Ramstein, Germany; four daughters, Deborah and Shano Caldwell of Charleston, Tammy and Melissa Caldwell of Memphis, Tenn.
Also surviving are seven brothers, W.C. Winbush, Robert Winbush Jr. and Connell Kenney of Harvey, Ill., Willie Reed of Hammond, Ind., Curtis Reed of Rock Island, Ill., Freddell Kenney of Six Flag, Ga., William Winbush of Milwaukee, Wis.; five sisters, Alberta Johnson, Minnie Jackson, Rosemary Williams and Shirley Kenney of Rock Island, Blossie Westbrooks of Hickman, Ky., and eight grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew's Church. The Rev. Willma Caldwell will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 6-7 p.m. today.
