Verida Lee Jackson, 66, of Cape Girardeau departed this life Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Southeast Hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Helena, Ark., to the late Sammuel and Lureather Ward Bell. Verida Lee Jackson, 66, of Cape Girardeau departed this life Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Helena, Ark., to the late Sammuel and Lureather Ward Bell.

Verida accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age under the leadership of Pastor Moore at New Bethel Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of New Horizon.

She is survived by four sons, Robert E. Jackson of Cape Girardeau, John Jackson Sr. of Sikeston, Mo., and William and Andrew Jackson of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Sheri and Rose Jackson of Cape Girardeau and Deloris Jackson of Texas; four brothers, Jimmy and John Bell, Monty King and Albert Bell, all of Cape Girardeau; five sisters, Shirley Bell, Annie (Pastor Aaron) Robinson, Arleather Bell and Maggie and Annie Jean Bell; 33 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends, including Tina Watson of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl D. Jackson; a brother, Robert "Foot" Bell; twin brother and sister; and stepmother, Annie Lou Bell.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Cape Bible Chapel.

A celebration of life service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Verida's family c/o Ford and Sons Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
