Vergie Bee Seabaugh Templeton, 96, of Cape Girardeau went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center, where she was surrounded by family and love. She was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Millersville to Eli Seabaugh and Evelyn Niswonger Seabaugh.

Vergie Bee Seabaugh Templeton, 96, of Cape Girardeau went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center, where she was surrounded by family and love.

She was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Millersville to Eli Seabaugh and Evelyn Niswonger Seabaugh.

Vergie attended school in Jackson. After school she went to work at the Ely-Walker Pants Factory in Old Illmo. It was during this time she met her husband, Charles Poe Templeton. The two were married Jan. 11, 1941, in Greenville, Missouri.

During the rest of her time in Cape Girardeau, Vergie was a homemaker. In her free time, she volunteered at the Missouri Veterans Home, where she served over 8,000 hours. Vergie also was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW and Centenary United Methodist Church.

Vergie is survived by her son, Robert (Jodi) Templeton; the daughter of her heart, Loretta Land; two grandchildren, Suzanne (Derek) Hiett and David (Kristi) Templeton; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Landen Hiett, Emma Ann and Molly Kate Templeton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Poe Templeton; three sisters, Myrtle Allen, Jettie Hamm and Marguerite Smith; one brother, Truman Seabaugh; and a grandson, Drew Michael Templeton.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at noon today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Sanderson and the Rev. David Conley officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

The family requests memorials be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, where Charles Templeton was a resident and Vergie volunteered so many hours.
