Vergie Louise Drum, 95, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Monticello House.
Vergie was born April 13, 1927, in Jackson, daughter of the late Louis and Cora Burgfeld Sebastian. She and Marvin "Ted" Drum were married Feb. 17, 1946, in Oswego, Kansas. Their union blessed them with a daughter, Diana (Jeffrey) Gibson of Murietta, California. Ted passed away Oct. 29, 2017.
Vergie was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. She and Ted both worked for International Shoe Co.
In addition to her loving daughter, Vergie is survived by a granddaughter, Chrystal (Stuart) Welch; four great-grandchildren, Shawn Gibson, Cayman Welch, Amaryllis and Terrence Williams; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Gibson, and two siblings, Mildred Adams and Vern Sebastian.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Saturday, March 4, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice or Emmanuel United Church of Christ.
