VERDEL REEVES

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Dovie "Verdel" Reeves, 72, of Scott City died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Dustin, Okla., daughter of Galby and Samantha Turner Pettey.

She and Raymond Arco Reeves were married March 22, 1953, in New Madrid, Mo. He died Sept. 24, 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Stewart and Linda Menz, both of Scott City; a brother, Charles Pettey of Clear Lake, Calif.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and her parents.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Strong officiating. Burial will be in the New Morley Cemetery in Morley, Mo.
