MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Verda "Adell" Garland, 84, of Marble Hill died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Marble Hill. She was born Dec. 12, 1926, daughter of John Barney and Mattie Mae Devenport Welker. She married Winford Jay Garland on Sept. 18, 1943. He passed away Feb. 20, 2009...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Verda "Adell" Garland, 84, of Marble Hill died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Marble Hill.

She was born Dec. 12, 1926, daughter of John Barney and Mattie Mae Devenport Welker. She married Winford Jay Garland on Sept. 18, 1943. He passed away Feb. 20, 2009.

Mrs. Garland was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include five daughters, Wanda (Lindell) Seabaugh, Kathy (Don) Cook, Brenda (Norman) Holweg, all of Marble Hill, Carolyn (Charlie) Smith of Jackson, Sharon (Dennis) Collins of Fruitland; a brother, Virgil Welker of Marble Hill; and a sister, Iva Padgett of Marble Hill.

Also nine grandchildren, Scott Seabaugh (Dawn), Brett (Mandy) Smith, Ryan (Amy) Smith, Jason (Holly) Cook, Holly (Eric) Maurer, Daryn Holweg (Teresa), Benji (Jamie) Holweg, Jennifer Kirkpatrick, Justin Collins (Jackie); 13 great-grandchildren, Gavin Seabaugh, Autumn Abernathy, Merritt and Luke Smith, Jordan Maurer, Emma, Josy and Ella Cook, Kyla, Drake and Masyn Holweg, Austin and Koleby Collins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Von and Leroy Welker and two infant brothers; sister Maydean Atchison and two infant sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jim Fulbright and Clifton Trentham officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Cemetery near Marble Hill.
