She was born March 11, 1915, in Uniontown, daughter of Joseph and Amanda Hemmann Hecht. She and Albert Wichern were married Feb. 20, 1938. He preceded her in death Jan. 18, 2001...

UNIONTOWN, Mo. -- Vera Rosina Amanda Wichern, 100, of Uniontown died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Independence Care Center of Perry County, Missouri.

She was born March 11, 1915, in Uniontown, daughter of Joseph and Amanda Hemmann Hecht. She and Albert Wichern were married Feb. 20, 1938. He preceded her in death Jan. 18, 2001.

Vera was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church and LWML in Uniontown.

Survivors include two daughters, Eileen (Charlie) Rauh of Perryville, Missouri, and Gerri (Ron) Hoehn of Peoria, Illinois; a son, Dennis Wichern of Jackson; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Kroodsma, Tim (Kris) Rauh, Josh (Rhonda) Rauh, Phillip (Chelsea) Wichern and Amy (Adam) Lukefahr; and loving great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Vernon Scholl; a brother, Hilmer Hecht; and a sister, Thekla Hecht.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to The Lutheran Hour, Grace Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
