ALTO PASS, Ill. -- Vera Smith, 82, of Spartanburg, S.C., died Sunday, June 12, 1994, at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital in Simpsonville, S.C. She was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Alto Pass, daughter of John and Dora Williams Emery. She married Everett E. Smith Dec. 28, 1927, in Murphysboro. He died in 1988...

ALTO PASS, Ill. -- Vera Smith, 82, of Spartanburg, S.C., died Sunday, June 12, 1994, at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital in Simpsonville, S.C.

She was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Alto Pass, daughter of John and Dora Williams Emery. She married Everett E. Smith Dec. 28, 1927, in Murphysboro. He died in 1988.

Smith was formerly of Union and Jackson counties. She was a retired grocery clerk, and was a member of University Baptist Church in Carbondale many years.

Survivors include a daughter, June Robinson of Spartanburg; a sister, Connie Curry of Lake Charles, La.; three brothers, John Emery of Marion, Wilbur Emery of Anna, Ernest Emery of Carterville; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Friends may call at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-9 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
