VERA OVERBECK

JACKSON, Mo. -- Funeral for Vera B. Overbeck of Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. Jimmy Corbin will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Overbeck, 89, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 21, 1911, near Oak Ridge, Mo., daughter of Theodore and Minnie Lowes Grebe Jr. She and Wise Overbeck were married May 1, 1937. He died Oct. 23, 1991.

Overbeck received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1963. She taught many years at Big Springs and Jackson school districts in Missouri, and at the Egyptian School District in Illinois. She and her husband owned and operated a farm and orchard near Millersville, Mo., many years, moving to Jackson in 1958.

She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, Suzanna Wesley Sunday School Class, Wesleyan Fellowship Circle, and former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Roberts Homemakers Club and retired teachers.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Overbeck of Seattle, Wash.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
