Vera Hager

Vera D. Hager, 97, of Jackson passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 30, 1926, in Cape Girardeau County to Reuel H. and Nora Dell Swan Morton. She and Kenneth D. Hager were married Aug. 1, 1947, in Jackson. They had been married 50 years when Kenneth passed away Dec. 15, 1997.

Vera was a longtime member of New McKendree United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women group, also serving many years as the church financial secretary.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Martha Jo (the late Elliott) DeGraff of Cape Girardeau and Beth Ann Hager of Jackson; and a grandson, John Hager (Bryan Suntrup) of Cape Girardeau.

All arrangements are private at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Vera will later be laid to rest next to Kenneth at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
