OLMSTED, Ill. -- Vera Bellamy, 98, of Olmsted died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Capitol Care Nursing Home in Springfield, Ill. She was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Pulaski, Ill., daughter of Cecil and Flora Easter Bankson. She and Jesse Bellamy were married April 16, 1940. OLMSTED, Ill. -- Vera Bellamy, 98, of Olmsted died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Capitol Care Nursing Home in Springfield, Ill.

She was born Nov. 1, 1914, in Pulaski, Ill., daughter of Cecil and Flora Easter Bankson. She and Jesse Bellamy were married April 16, 1940. They were married nearly 65 years when he died March 20, 2005.

Vera was a member of Olmsted United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. During Jesse's years of ministry in area Methodist churches, Vera served by his side. She was a loyal friend, neighbor and pastor's wife.

Her loving family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Peter Holm of Springfield; three grandchildren, Matt, Josh and Ben Holm; four great-grandchildren, George, Hagen, Gemma and Ian Holm; a sister-in-law, Jean Bankson of Malvern, Ark.; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Besides her husband and parents, Vera was preceded in death by four brothers, Mannon, Abner, Virgil and Warren Bankson.

Visitation will be from noon to service time today at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, Ill.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, with Pete Ryan and the Rev. Mindy Ferren officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery at Pulaski.

Memorial contributions may be made to Olmsted United Methodist Church, Liberty Cemetery or Shriners Hospitals for Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
