EAST PRAIRIE -- Velma Mae McKenzie, 70, of East Prairie, died Friday, Oct. 30, 1992 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born April 10, 1922 in Decatur, Tenn., daughter of Pleasant L. and Hester Wyatt Carlyle.
She had lived in East Prairie since 1937 and was of the Baptist faith.
In 1954, she married Jesse McKenzie, who survives. She is also survived by two sons, Danny Fincher and Charles McKenzie, both of New Orleans, La.; two daughters, Diane Walton, East Prairie, Francie Fegans, Wardell; one brother, P.L. Carlyle, East Prairie; four sisters, Julie Weems, East Prairie, Martha Williams, Belleville, Ill., Betty Vaught and Pat Mays, both of Sikeston; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and one grandson.
Funeral service will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with the Rev. Martin Lucas, pastor of the First Christian Church of East Prairie, and the Rev. Michael Cartwright, pastor of the Assembly of God Church of Canalou, officiating.
Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
