SIKESTON, Mo. -- Vela Mae Polley, 80, of Sikeston died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Clearview Nursing Center. She was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Sikeston, daughter of Everett and Gladys Wilson Harbison. She and Joseph Cullen Polley were married Feb. 15, 1941. He died March 23, 1994...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Vela Mae Polley, 80, of Sikeston died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Clearview Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Sikeston, daughter of Everett and Gladys Wilson Harbison. She and Joseph Cullen Polley were married Feb. 15, 1941. He died March 23, 1994.

Survivors include three sons, Paul and Doug Polley of Sikeston, Guy Polley of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a daughter, Jeanette Bell of Sikeston; a brother, James Harbison of Paducah, Ky.; a sister, Wilma Dubar of Paducah; a friend, Henry Covey of Sikeston; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Kelley Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
