ADVANCE, Mo. -- Veda Pearl Deckard Goolsby Harris, 88, of Advance passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 27, 1928, at Brownwood, Missouri, the daughter of Leo Lester and Alma Cleo Lemons Deckard.
Veda had worked at the Inland Shoe factory in Advance, the International Hat factory and was a sales consultant at Fairway Department Store in Marble Hill, Missouri. She was a member of Balch Church. She loved flowers and gardening.
Veda and Howard Doyle Goolsby were united in marriage March 13, 1943, and he preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1994. She later married Paul Harris on Dec. 20, 1997, and he preceded her in death June 24, 2016.
Survivors include two sons, Leo Howard Goolsby of Advance and Melvin Thomas Goolsby of Zalma, Missouri; a daughter, Kimberly Kay Black of Advance; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and a son, Bobbie Lee Goolsby.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Revs. Dale Wiseman and Wayne Page officiating. Burial will be at Berrong Cemetery near Zalma.
