MARBLE HILL -- Vallie Grindstaff, 97, of Marble Hill, died Wednesday, April 1, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 16, 1894, near Scopus, daughter of Marshall Hamilton and Amanda Bess Mayfield. She married Warren Grindstaff April 27, 1913. He died Dec. 3, 1972...

MARBLE HILL -- Vallie Grindstaff, 97, of Marble Hill, died Wednesday, April 1, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 16, 1894, near Scopus, daughter of Marshall Hamilton and Amanda Bess Mayfield. She married Warren Grindstaff April 27, 1913. He died Dec. 3, 1972.

Grindstaff was a member of Lutesville General Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Rev. Floyd Grindstaff of Marble Hill, Dale Grindstaff of Whitewater; a brother, Rusby Mayfield of Marble Hill; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Liley Funeral Chapel here. The Revs. Sidney Laxton and Jack Leslie will officiate, with burial in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
