ANNA, Ill.— Valarie Basse, 92, of Anna died Monday, July 21, 2008, at Parkway Manor in Marion, Ill.

She was born April 11, 1916, in Dongola, Ill., to Charles Edward and Mary Jane Parr Johnson. She and Ralph Basse were married Jan. 15, 1939. He died Aug. 12, 1990.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Anna and its Be Square Sunday school class and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Johnson of Anna; a son, Victor Basse of Carbondale, Ill.; three granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bill Minor officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
