CHARLESTON -- Ulis James Foister, 84, formerly of Charleston, died Sunday, July 13, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Sikeston, son of Peter and Sarah Sturgeon Foister. He married Gladys Hale Thompson on Nov. 22, 1953. She died Oct. 14, 1958.
He had worked in maintenance for the city of Charleston and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he received a Bronze Star in 1943 for his part in the Aleutian Island Campaign.
He is survived by eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the New Morley Cemetery. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Benton is in charge of arrangements.
