MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Troy Marion Tippett, 87, of Marble Hill died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Elder Care Nursing Home in Marble Hill.
He was born Jan. 23, 1913, near Advance, Mo., in Stoddard County, to the late Sherman and Elsa Sims Tippett. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Marble Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men's Club.
He and Anna Marie Harris were married Oct. 24, 1941. Survivors are his wife; two sons and families, Troy Marion II, wife, Diane, and daughters, Andrea and Rachel, of Pensacola, Fla.; and Brian Harris, wife, Aletha, and daughters, Rebecca, Deborah and Elizabeth, of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers Leon of Twin Falls, Idaho, J. Wright of Advance, Mo., and William E. of Mountain View, Ark.; sisters, Rita Reynolds of Advance, Mo., and Josephine Lanpher of Virginia Beach, Va.; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
He donated his body to medical science at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
A memorial service at the Marble Hill United Methodist Church will be scheduled later.
