MARBLE HILL -- Travis W. Abernathy, 67, of Marble Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1992, at his home.
He was born May 19, 1925, at Morley, son of Walla and Della Wilkinson Abernathy. He and Della Eakins were married March 22, 1952, at Glen Allen.
Abernathy was a plant operator with Mobil Oil Co. He retired in 1987 from the plant in Thomas, Okla., and moved to Marble Hill. He was a member of Marble Hill First United Methodist Church, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth Abernathy of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Abernathy of Thomas; a daughter, Gloria Verbeck of Arnold; two brothers, Van Abernathy of Queen Creek, Ariz., Vern Abernathy of Belleville, Ill.; two sisters, Joice Hodge and Doris Guarino of East Alton, Ill., and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. The Revs. Rick Broadway and Ed Hankinson will officiate, with burial in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near here.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill after 4 p.m. today.
