ZALMA, Mo. -- Travis Bennett, 22, of Zalma passed away Sept. 24, 2016, in Stoddard County, Missouri, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Aug. 24, 1994, at Cape Girardeau.
Travis was a 2013 graduate of Zalma High School and also a graduate of the Building and Vocational School at Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He worked for Boulder Construction Co. in Cape Girardeau as a painter and drywaller. He was a member of American Motocross Association and member of Grass Roots Racing Series. Last year, he won the Grass Roots Open C Championship. He attended Fusion Street Ministries in Advance.
Survivors include his father, Robert W. Bennett of Zalma; his mother, Katy (Charlie) Wiesler Wheetley of Zalma; two sisters, Mary Ann McCain of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Katelyn Wheetley of Zalma; maternal grandmother, Rose Wiesler of Marble Hill; and paternal grandmother, Bonnie Warmack of Piedmont, Missouri.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Eric Lemons officiating. Burial will follow at Berrong Cemetery near Zalma.
