BOULDER, Colo. -- Tranton Gage King, 50, of Boulder died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at Denver Health Medical Center due to complications of aortic dissection.

He was born Jan. 14, 1972, in Cape Girardeau to Floyd G. and Linda Blaylock King.

Tranton was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1990 and attended Southeast Missouri State University. In his youth, Tranton was employed at the Del Farm grocery store in Cape Girardeau, where the employees called him "Trent."

Tranton was drawn to the Rocky Mountains because of his love of nature, residing there the last 2 1/2 decades. He enjoyed hiking, mountain biking and fly fishing. He had a soft spot for animals and, while in school, collected leftover lunch money from students for dog food to donate to the humane society. He was an avid reader. In his youth he enjoyed BMX biking, skateboarding, jet skiing and the beach. Tranton was a former member of the Cape Swim Team, Cape Girardeau Central High football team and Boy Scouts.

Tranton had many dogs throughout the years that were very special to him, especially his last companion, Linkin. He was a collector of many things to add to his treasures.

He was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his mother; son, Kody Lee (fiancee Jessica Couch) King of Greenwood, Indiana; daughter, London Isadore King of Denver; two grandchildren, Chase David Lee King and Aria Lynn King, both of Greenwood; two brothers, Travis (Brenda) King of Columbia, Missouri, and Tyson King of Cape Girardeau; two nieces, Hailey (Ian) McAlary and McKenna King; three uncles, Benjamin King of Jackson, Mike (Susan) King of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Don Wareing of St. Charles, Missouri; two aunts, Nancy King of Jackson and Jacqueline (Hank) Scarborough; and four cousins, Gretchen King, Jacob King, Terry Brockmire and Tracey Burton.

Tranton was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, N. Chester and Clara Blaylock, and Ben A. and Beulah King; and a cousin, Tom Brockmire.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 1 at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 1 at the mausoleum. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Missouri Pets, 180 Weston St., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
