Anthony Riley "Tony" Schuch, 76, of Cape Girardeau was received into the loving arms of God on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 30, 1938, in Washington, D.C., to Edward A. and Nan Ellen Riley Schuch. He and Annette Wallace were married July 9, 1967, at Kennett, Missouri.

Tony received a bachelor's degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University, and a master's degree in art education at University of Missouri in Columbia. He first taught in the Missouri communities of Sullivan, Caruthersville and Kennett for 10 years. He then taught 26 years in Cape Girardeau public schools. He retired in 1995.

He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church 18 years and formerly First Baptist Church 27 years. He was also a member of MSTA and past member of SEMO Council on the Arts.

Tony's hobby was painting, mainly landscapes. He also painted a portrait of Kurt Warner, which Kurt signed. As a prolific painter, he shared his art in many ways, donating to family, friends, charities and other organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Schuch of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Laura Schuch of Cabot, Arkansas; a brother, John Hunter Schuch of Santa Rosa, California; cousins, Margie (Richard) Straka of Magnolia, Texas, the Paul Mueller Jr. family, as well as other cousins; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Lynwood Mission Fund or National Institute for Cancer Research.
