SIKESTON -- Tony E. Statler, 80, of Sikeston, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1992, in the emergency room at Missouri Delta Medical Center. He was born May 11, 1912, at Daisy, son of Edward and Mollie Niswonger Statler. He and Viola L. Fadler were married June 22, 1941, at Sikeston. She died May 11, 1991...

SIKESTON -- Tony E. Statler, 80, of Sikeston, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1992, in the emergency room at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born May 11, 1912, at Daisy, son of Edward and Mollie Niswonger Statler. He and Viola L. Fadler were married June 22, 1941, at Sikeston. She died May 11, 1991.

Statler was employed by Sikeston Public Schools from 1951-77 as administrative assistant, director of elementary education, director of audio-visual and special education departments, and transportation department.

He was a member of Missouri State Teachers Association, Southeast Missouri Retired Teachers Association, and received the Meritorious Service Award from Southeast Missouri District Teachers Association in 1980.

Statler was a member of American Legion Post 114, and Concordia Lutheran Church. He served on various church boards, was past president of the congregation and former teacher of Bethel Bible Class. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Concordia Church. The Rev. Robert Kriete will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 5 p.m. today, and from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday.
