Tom Young

Tom Young, 78, of Oak Ridge passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born July 27, 1939, in Cape Girardeau to the late Truman Nace and Bessie Irene Thomas Young. Tom and Glenda Shackles were married Oct. 13, 1957, in Cape Girardeau.

He served for eight years in the Army National Guard.

Tom was a member of Lakeside Worship Center. He started the Tea Party in Cape Girardeau, was a member of the Elks Lodge and was past member of the Jaycees. He worked at Southeast Hospital as a shuttle driver.

Loving survivors include his wife of 60 years, Glenda Young; four daughters, Debra Kaye Young of Jackson, Vicki (William III) Moeller of Fenton, Missouri, Connie Young of Sikeston, Missouri, and Jennifer (Jerrimiah) Cunningham of Jackson; a sister, Phyllis Lukefahr of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Gwyn Moeller (Shaun Jacobs), Ian Moeller, Levi Cunningham, Jace Cunningham and Tara Moeller; two great-grandchildren, Elsa Faye Jacobs and Silas Moeller; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Chaney officiating. Burial will follow at Lorimier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
